95cooks Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 If I decide to make the headstock bigger-- adding wood to it to make it more square-- It seems like there will be a problem matching the wood that is already on the neck. One solution for the face of the headstock I think would be to put a rosewood overlay on. But for the back of the headstock it may look very obvious where the wood is added. I thought I could also put an overlay on that too, but that might not look so great either. Does anyone have a suggestion to make this easier? Quote
WezV Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 overlays on the back can look great. Its a common reinforcement when repairing headstock breaks Have a look at this for an almost invisible back strap http://frets.com/FRETSPages/Luthier/Techni.../phoverlay.html or something like this for one thats not so invisible http://www.gruhn.com/features/cremona/AR3526hb.jpg Quote
