vtsib
hello, i'm going to start a project. I have ordered a piece of mahogany to make the body. I would like to be a carved top LP but i can't find here in Italy maple to make it. What's the deferense if i place a carved piese of mahogany instead of maple? Please respond rapidly because i will have to cancel the order. Thanx and sorry for my bad english.
guitar_ed
The biggest difference might be the tone, depending on how close you want to come the LP sound. Most LPs are mahogany & maple, with a mahogany neck. And that does set the tone. Guitar Ed Advice worth what you paid for it. Nothing. tsl602000
I'm sure you'll be able to find maple in Italy. You could even order a bookmatched top from Stew Mac. If I'm not mistaken, there's an Italian woodsupplier in the www.projectguitar.com supply page.... Good luck!
