michaelwithersone
Hey there - Got a question here that my local guitar shop couldnt answer me so I thought this might be the place to post. I currently have a Gibson Les Paul standard with the standard gibson pickups which iam not incredibly keen on. I would like to install a fernandes sustainer (in the neck presumably) and in the bridge iam really set on getting the Seymor Duncan custom shop Scott Ian El Diablo in the bridge. However - I have no idea if I can use another pickup with the sustainer that isnt a fernandes. And I have no idea what fernandes kit I would need for my lespaul. I have fitted several sets of passive and actives pickups in the past , but iam unsure about the ease of fitting with these - is it easy? Thanks in advance guys! crafty
The Fernandez kits will work with the El Diablo...however those kits are a PITA to install in a flat-top guitar, much less a Les Paul. I'd look at the Sustainiac products because you don't have to route up the guitar to install their systems.
David Schwab
Robert Fripp uses the Fernandes Sustainer in his Les Pauls. He puts one of those and a Strat size dual rail pickup in the neck position.
