killemall8
i dont like the carve, other people dont like the carve, but its yours and you do like it! so who cares what we think. we might all be idiots anyway hehe well its like 60-1 so i doubt it
TheIRS
WARNING! Dissenting opinion time! I like it!! Would like it more if the bottom part was rounded yet i still think its cool. But don't worry if anyone likes it or not-- if YOU like it that's what matters! Especially if the guitar is for yourself then you shouldn't worry too much about everyone else. Just enjoy building it. jmrentis
60-2 now, I guess TheIRS, Killemall8, and myself will have to start a company that designs guitars for people with bad taste!

jer7440
No one said you have bad taste. Just different taste. Something that is bound to happen in a group of this size.
TheIRS
Neither did I! I just found the name funny.
killemall8
got the fretboards in the other day. the other one is canary woold. this zebrawood smell horrible! much worse than the other zebrawood ive used. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0098-1.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...ie/DCAM0100.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0099-1.jpg
Jon
Very cool. All the zebrawood I have ever worked with has smelled terrible. Why are the fingerboards rounded?
killemall8
Very cool. All the zebrawood I have ever worked with has smelled terrible. Why are the fingerboards rounded? i dont know actually. all of the ones i have bought from them have been like that. usually they are really wide to where the round over will be cut off, but on the canary one, i had to sand it flatter to get rid of the roundover. i really dont know why they do that. killemall8
got the canary board bound with walnut. check it out: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0002-1.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0003-2.jpg
killemall8
now that i think about it, i think i will use the canary board on this one instead. i think it matches it better. hope it works.
jaycee
I like the carve. The way the lines on the top section mirror the body shape is really nice. If you look at the pickguard on a strat the lines just seem to clash with the body shape, whereas the lines on the top of the body complement the overall shape. killemall8
well, as always, i ruined the brand new canary board, and will have to use the zebrawood board instead. go me
killemall8
well, it might still work. but i highly doubt it. its getting really thin really fast. a few chips and gaps on the board make me not want to uset it. errr i hate myself. i really wish i would have just left it blank and no inlays. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0006-1.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0005-3.jpg Edited December 23, 2007 by killemall8
axxion
wow sweet inlay job man. I like the wood inlay better than MOP now that i've seen it. I've liked your work since the beginning and cant wait to see it finished. BTW i did like that carve you did.. i don't see why anyone wouldn't... maybe i should be a part of 'bad taste guitars' inc. killemall8
thanks axxion. btg guitars. i should put that on my headstock. anyway here is another body blank glued up for another les paul. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k.../DCAM0001-2.jpg
killemall8
well, sorry guys, but due to budget constraints, i will be cutting off most of the high end stuff on this. im going to gfs pickups, no distortion circut. and now i am confused on what color hardware to use. i had my heart set on gold, but now i am not so sure. now that i look at a bunch of black hardware, i want to use that, like always. what do you guys think? i am stumped on what to use. what will it be? black or gold? avengers63
I guess I'll chime in here as well. I'm not so much for the carve either. It's too much of a plateau, not a gradual curve. That being said, these are our opinions on it's look, not it's execution. It's YOUR project, and you're the only one you need to please. Gibson thought Les Paul was an idiot until Leo Fender started getting rich. Do your thing. I LOVE the wood binding on the f/b and the wood inlays. You just don't see that very often. Nice classy look. If cost is getting to be an issue, you already know what the answer is on the gold hardware. To me, the answer to the black/chrome queston is simple. Is the guitar going to be dark or light? If everything is goung to be light (eg: maple), then black hardware would balance it out. It it's to be dark (eg: walnut), then chrome will brighten it up. It's all subjective to your end look. Or you could ignore us all and follow your gut. Edited December 26, 2007 by avengers63

avengers63
So... why aren't the inlays going all the way up the neck?
TheIRS
Are those tuner holes lined up? Because the way it seems in all those pictures is that they go off the wrong way.
