j. pierce Posted January 3, 2008 Report Share Posted January 3, 2008 I suppose the correct answer is "whatever feels comfortable" or "as low as is practical without excessive fret noise", but I'm curious - how low do you bass playing folks set your action? What do you look for in ways of relief? I'm wrapping up my bass build, and I feel like I should be able to get the action lower, but I really don't play bass enough to know what's normal. I find it interesting how an imperceptible change in string height can make a big difference in fret noise.
