jammy Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I'm starting plans for a new instrument and I'm currently on the hunt for some lightweight machine heads for it. So far I've found the hipshot non-lockers, which seem to be made on a similar vein to their superlight bass heads. Are there any other units I should be considering? Quality is more important than price. Quote
Daniel Sorbera Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 The shaller M6 mini with ebony buttons are only 170 grams, the lightest I've found. Plus they are as good as it gets on quality. Quote

Mattia Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 +1 on the open backed Sperzels (Shane at High Mountain Tonewoods is a dealer, and a pleasure to work with), or if you want really top quality in a vintage vein you might go with Waverlies. Gotoh's open backed tuners are also high quality, and I quite like the Grovers (good quality, but cheaper than the rest). The mini machines (gotoh 510, schaller, whatever) with wood or plastic buttons will save a lot of weight as well. Quote
jammy Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 Great post Mattia, thanks! And cheers to everyone else...now to research the options Quote
