ultraman
i dont have a router s instead of routing i thought i could just take two pieces of wood, cut a hole right THROUGH the first piece for pickups, and then glue both parts one on top of the other. do you think in would work? thanks

westhemann
if your pieces were the right thickness you could...like make the top maple and the bottom alder or mahogany?i wouldn't do it out of all the same wood but only because then you have an unnecessary glue line for nothing. you can get a router from harbor freight for 30$...i have one of those and it does the job. Devon Headen
Yeah, routers aren't insanely expensive, and they're definitely good to have around. I'd just buy a router. You could get a cheap one like Wes was talking about if you're just planning on a few projects, or invest in a nice one if you wanna do more.
