Freestyler
Hi again, I have rcently noticed loads of gunk on my fretbaord and have decided to remove it and oil it. Now, some questions. If I remove all the strings will I loose the tension in the FR (even If I block it with bottle caps or something) and the truss rob (especially concerned about this one)? I don't think I can clean it properly with strings on and I don't know how to (and don't want to break things trying to) set it up. Also, I was planning on giving it a going over with fine wire wool and then lemon oil - is this alright? (Its a rosewood board) Any replys would be great, Thanks in advance, Freestyler
Hotrock
I think there's a cleaning tutorial in the Tutorial Section. Not that I've read it, I don't think I've ever cleaned my guitar, the dirt is holding it together.
Freestyler
yea there is, but al lthose tutorials seem to be followed by a complete set up, and iw asn wandering if I could get away without that
Scott Rosenberger
If you take all the strings off on a Floating trem setup you'll need to do a new setup after restringing to get the trem floating properly. I wouldnt worry about the truss rod unless you're changing string gauges
DividedByJames
I use an orange solution, but I hear the lemon works well too. I use GooGone to get rid of the really gunky stuff, but I keep my 'boards clean for the most part, so it's only when i buy a used guitar when I use it. DividedByJames
just want to clarify...I use the googone for cleaning specific areas, not for the whole fingerbord.
