audiochild
Do you know where one can get custom neck inlays done? thanks!
Batfink
You need to be a bit more expansive to allow people to point you in the right direction. For example: Where are you ? What do actually want done: supply only, inlaid into a new fingerboard, inlaid into an existing fingerboard, inlaid into an existing neck etc etc etc...... All these first considerations will effect the price, the offers you get or the reccomendations of where to go enormously.
fryovanni
I cut my own inlay, unless it is a common piece(Gibson Blocks, dots, etc...). Andy Depaule offers a good selection of pre-cut inlay, as well as shell blanks. If you are wanting to have a custom job done for you there are a few talented people that offer custom inlay(their time is worth a fair bit, as they are usually very in demand artists). There are a few places that offer machine cut inlay, possibly using less expensive materials, which may be a cheaper option. You should give us an idea as to what you are looking to buy or have done, and a ruff idea as to your budget. That may help narrow down the options. audiochild
thanks for the replies! sorry for not being precise enough. I'm in Europe but the guitar is being build in the US. the neck is not made yet. I'm not sure if I want inlays at all but recently I saw some guitars with sexy ones. like tribals or motifs all over the fingerboard. I have no idea how much it would cost and much effort it is so I'd like to see some galleries/pages so that I get some inspiration of how it could look and find someone to address. that page looks good, thanks WezV Edited May 21, 2008 by audiochild
Batfink
Well, if it's inspiration you want: Grit Laskin Larry Robinson Craig Lavin Mike from SmallWonder in the UK
Mattia
Look up Paul Bordeaux inlay as well. Really fantastic stuff. Easily one of my favourite inlay artists after Grit Laskin and Judy Threet. Robinson can be great, but sometimes too OTT.
