Neck Refinishing

hey guys was looking for a little finishing info.i want to refinish the neck on my strat copy.I don't know what the finish is called but the finish i want to use is the same as they use on the squire strats.it feels like there's no finish on the wood at all and it's not glossy but i know there has to be something on it.If anyone knows what this type of finish is called or how to do it would appreciate any info.thanks.

A lot of what your looking for is in smoothing out the existing finish. I would start by polishing your exisiting finish.

hey syxxstring thanks for the input.I'm assuming you mean a very very fine sandpaper or steel wool.Any recomendations?Have you tried this before?I have no experience in this area and would prefer to only try this once.thanks again.

There are a ton of ways. Steel wool may be good, I use find sandpapers and buffing equipment because thats whats always hooked up in my shop.

On a Squire, I doubt it. They seem like mostly poly finishes on the ones I've played and with a little working are usually a pretty good feeling finish.
