ihocky2 Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 go to the project guitar main site and look through the tutorials. There should be one on there about how to make your own palstic dots if you don't want to buy them. You will need a drill press though and a 1/4" brad point or forstner bit. A normal jobbers bit won't work. Quote
aznricey Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 sorry ive looked i honestly couldn't find it, and really ive tried Mind if you post a link? please, thank you =) Quote
SwedishLuthier Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Its in the "build a neck" tutorial http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/neck2.htm Quote
aznricey Posted July 11, 2008 Author Report Posted July 11, 2008 Yeah they teach you how to make it from scartch, but i wanted to know how ot add it from a premade neck .... See i wanted to buy this guitar, but with my skill i can never play without the aid of the fret markers.... Quote
ihocky2 Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 You take the strings off, mark the center of the frets you need and do exactly like that tutorial says. For dots all you have to do is drill holes and then sand the dot down flush with the board. Quote
Rick500 Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Try playing it without markers first. You might be surprised. There are still markers on the edge of the fretboard. Quote

There are still markers on the edge of the fretboard. i agree... i find side markers absolutely critical but never notice when i dont have face markers if you do decide to have them added its not too big a job... mostly it comes down to accurate marking and good (be patient, gentle but thorough) clean up afterwards Quote

(Look at the Ibanez RG2228 for example: wouldn't it look so much better without those boring round markers??) I would deffo try it first...you can always add markers! DJ Quote
