Neck Pickup Routing.... With Finger Board On.

Okay guys, I need some ideas/help. I need to route a neck pickup cavity (single coil, if your intested) on a guitar, which is a neck thru and already has a fretted finger board on it. Does any one have any good ideas to do this easily? Maybe build some kind of platform?

Make a template, mount it elevated (little 'feet' on either side of the template), route away. I'm not sure I see the big difficulty here. I do this all the time for set neck guitars.

Ahhhhhhh thnx, I coudn't get my head around it and it has been destroying my life for the past 2 days, I like your Idea a lot. With me, everything is a big difficulty.
