Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Warmoth necks are quite easy to do this ith, if you get the 24.75 scale. Also the neck must be top adjust. Just route to the fretboard the tenon matched to the bod of course. The carvin would be more effoet, but a better joint. Also, there's occasionally a gibbie neck on ebay. Finally, contact Ed Roman. He sells them.
DaveK
Litchfield..can you be more specific on how to make the Warmoth neck converted to a set neck? Remember, I don't want a bolt on neck & It must fit a Les Paul neck pocket Thanks Dave
ryeisnotcool2
buy a "neck thru" neck and cut it down to the length needed then route off the eccess wood until you have the same tennon as on a gibson neck. you will want to remove the original neck first so you can copy it excactly. some years were different than others. DaveK
I thought of the neck through idea as well...the only problem is that I need a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard Carvin only does Maple neck with Ebony fingerboards (if the info on the website is correct) Anyone who has played the Les Pauls with the maple neck knows the tone difference between the maple & mahogany neck Not saying that one is better than the other...just VERY differant tones! Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Simply route off the excess wood up to the FB. You will need to glue on some extra mahogany for the heel, but it is as simple as routing away excess. I will draw you a pic & post it. Pushead
Anyone who has played the Les Pauls with the maple neck knows the tone difference between the maple & mahogany neck I can vouch for that. I have 3 with maple necks.
samdjr74
There's another problem with the carvin and or most other neck-through blanks, they're not the right scale for a Les Paul. Now find a person making neck-throught blanks in 24.75, 25 and 25.50 and we are all set!
Setch
Geebus, just build it! If you can do justice to a carved top then you can carve a decent neck in your sleep. .oO(stumbles away muttering about the bizarre ideas people have about carving necks being like rocket science....)Oo. samdjr74
Hi Tom, Yes there is a person ho makes set neck replacements at a very resonable price. I am going to use one of his necks on an upcoming project. Thanks, Sam http://www.soulmateguitars.com/
