GuitarMaestro Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Hi! I'll build a special peghead for my next guitar. It will have a shape which is close to the B.C. Rich Virgin headstock. It features some long and small spikes. I thought about building it from the neck material which is flamed maple and in a thickness of about 10 mm. Then I would add a 3mm quilted maple veneer to the top and the bottom of the peghead. Do you think this will bes table enough or do I have to use a harder wood for the core? Or should I add carbon fibre pads under the veneers? How does B.C. Rich make their difficult peghead shapes? Thanks in advance, Marcel Knapp! Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Isnt the virgin a widow headstock? send in some pics, it'll help a bunch. Get em from a retailer's site if need be. Quote
goth_fiend Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 sounds like a widow headstock to me, just make sure you have thick enough wood and it will be fine, i would say go with about a 13 mm thick one and see how that go's-draw it out full svale first! Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted December 5, 2003 Author Report Posted December 5, 2003 Thanks for your answers....I even have a complete drawing for the peghead, but it seems you can only post pictures on this forum if you have website where you can upload them. Quote
