Yamaha 112 Fixup Pt. 3

Recommended Posts

So I've setup my Pacifica Strat style to play just about exactly how i want (will have to do this all again when I get a new nut and saddles), and now I'm starting to think about body finishes. I'm fairly sure I want to do a stained color. I was thinking of doing a finish just like my brother-in-law's squier vintage modified jazz bass.

However if the grain of the wood isn't as appealing I was thinking of doing a walnut stain or solid color.

I'm open to suggestions. It's an alder body by the way.

My question also is, what is a half simple way to get a nice glossy finish about the same quality as a Squier or lower priced Fender. I'm just looking to upgrade teh finish it has now with it terrible. Tiny pits and lack of effort on the paint job bring this great guitar way down.
