Devon Headen
That bocote is stunning...I might have to look at getting some. What's the price like relative to other woods (lazy night, and it's getting late)?
Scott Rosenberger
Guitar looks great!, but I'd rather see more pics of the Girl!!!

What's the price like relative to other woods (lazy night, and it's getting late)? bocote is about the same price as rock maple.very reasonable,i think. yes i would like to see more of the girl too,but how do you say "can i have some pictures of you ,and while were at it ,maybe you could lose some clothes" with the wife 5 feet away. ahhh, such is life
Drak
You ask her to pose with your wife of course, for a nice family shot, then just use photoshop editing to 'do what ya gotta do'. PS, I'll say it again, that is shaping up to be one really top-notch guitar Wes.
daveq
Awesome guitar Wes. Now, how about more on that girl? Lot's of fun to be had with a camera!

canuckguitarist
looks great wes! I'm still kind of unclear on the finish...it's not going to be a solid colour is it? Just a couple coats of clear? Also, is that the same headstock design as the set-neck guitar in Melvyn Hiscock's book? Looks kinda similar...It really fits in with the body design, looks good. the third eye
wes, you're guitar looks great, you're toes are creepily long, and i'm sure the girl looks great too but you havn't shown me a pic yet... so what are you waitin for? MikeB
yo wes, that looks awesome! i think abalone inlays would work well. youve re-inspired me to make a guitar. i have some of the wood beside me, but i just couldnt be stuffed! mike
Drak
I also think (diamond?) abalone inlays would sit gorgeous against that Bocote, but to each his own!
MikeB
yeh, that would be cool. i like the green-ish ones. i think they will feature on my next guitar.
StreamLine
looks amazing, the body and the fretboard.... but i dont dig the headstokc design to be honest..... also puzzled to why you have only routed for a single humbucker. doing so just devalues the guitar and its versatility in my opinion..
westhemann
hehe...well,streamline..the reason it only has one bucker is becuse of the way i wanted to carve it and because i didn't want to interupt the figuring of a very expensive piece of wood. devalue?it only has the value i put on it...i built it
tsl602000
doing so just devalues the guitar what do you mean? It's a single humbucker design.
westhemann
many people only use the humbucker at bridge and never switch over...this guitar is pure metal and although a neck pickup would look cool...it would hardly be useful. but anyway my next ones will all have multiple pickups...i prefer the dual humbucker design.81/
Devon Headen
If it's just for metal, I'd say just put a bridge pup in. It's cheaper (one less pickup to buy), easier (don't have to rout for it, or wire for it), and could look better depending on who you ask. Personally I like the symmetry of more than one pup, or not having ay at all (piezo). Piezo is hardly for metal though.
westhemann
btw dino has a custom 7 string with only the bridge pup
