boundsteelblues Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I routed my first truss rod channel. The truss rod is a Stew Mac Hot Rod with the 1/8 allen. I put the nut at the heel. I'm not sure how I managed to do this, but checking my depth I found that the last 3 inches is 1/32" lower than the rest, which is spot on 7/16". What impact is this going to have? Do I need to try to correct it? Quote

boundsteelblues Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Yes, I mean deeper. Thanks, that is good news. This first guitar is also my first experience with a router. Edited October 6, 2008 by boundsteelblues Quote
guitar_player Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 your fine if it was a 16th I'd put a shim under it but a 32nd I wouldn't worry about Quote
boundsteelblues Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 your fine if it was a 16th I'd put a shim under it but a 32nd I wouldn't worry about For reference, how would you shim it, by the way? I have some maple veener that is probably the right thickness. Quote
boundsteelblues Posted October 9, 2008 Author Report Posted October 9, 2008 Let me ask the question another way, would you glue this shim on the bottom or, if everything seems tight, not do so? Quote
Geo Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 You probably don't need to glue the shim if it's going under the anchored end, but I suppose gluing it doesn't hurt. I would put it below the truss rod rather than on top. Quote
