Fretboard Problem

Hi guys , I bought a fretboard from craft supplies and it has wood in the place for the nut.

How should i remove it ?

Chisel or router? Thanks

You mean that you want to cut a nut slot? Router is fine if you set it up well, otherwise you could use a file. I wouldn't use a chisel myself, but that's not to mean you can't.

I would cut it smaller than the target size and then open it out. Files with a blind side are useful in doing this as you can cut it to depth and widen it. A router-cut slot would ensure better depth and width though. I've never done a "Fender style" nut as mine are always butted to the end "Gibson style".
