Saber
A similar idea crossed my mind Saturday when I saw some little prismatic stickers at Office Depot.
Clavin
Hi Alex. That is a neat idea, however I do wonder why you would want PRS's theme on the mockingbird. Why not do something of your own? Those in the know might think it's a tad odd
westhemann
love that bridge pickup made my day to see it on that guitar...and i love the birds
Scott Rosenberger
I've been dying to check out the Dimebucker. Do you have any samples Alex??
westhemann
dimebucker is imo the most aggresive and clear passive pickup in existence.and more sustain than the emg

the third eye
dimebucker is imo the most aggresive and clear passive pickup in existence.and more sustain than the emg 81 really? my friend has one and as far as i remember we both thought it was kinda ****... a bit too muddy, gain was i guess good, for a high gain Pup but wasn't as aggressive as a few others we'd tried... (evo, screamin demon?, and some other duncan i think..) i wish i coulda compared it directly to a tonezone....anyway, in my memory the tonezone sounded WAY better... definitely warmer & clearer
the third eye
ALEX! you're a genius mate!!! i gotta try that.... it looks awesome!!! (contemplates sending jem neck to LGM for some wacky inlay one day....)

the third eye
maybe but it seemed ok, output may have been higher (not higher than the Evo though) , but the others sounded better when EQ'd, and were noticably clearer and....nicer
westhemann
yeah maybe...if you want a pretty sound that pickup is not for you...it is made for one thing only....screaming metal
the third eye
a pretty sound? jeez it's not like it plays happy pop.. i dunno, if i were still playing hardcore metal i'd go with something else then again i'd probably have EMG's so what does it matter i was basing the pickup's sound a little more on lead than rythm too
westhemann
i liked the lead tone too..screaming highs and sustain forever...but that is me.i prefer it over the 81 for lead
the third eye
really, i assumed the 81 lead tone would be pretty good, not my type but good the 'best' lead tones tend to be less gain anyway look at Van halen, Vai, Satch, and just about any shredder out there
westhemann
the 81 is good...but it doesn't scream the highs like a dimebucker..
westhemann
van halen has great lead tone
the third eye
it's amazing how little gain he actually used... Vai, always surprises me like that too damn i wish i had Vai's tone ....and skills......and theory knowledge....did i mention skillz? bowser
eddie even used a variac to lower the voltage going to his amp, rather than pumping it up like he told everyone. and i think we could confirm this as an official thread hijacking
