Dylanwad Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Has anyone used Birchwood Casey Walnut Stain? Any good? Would 3 fl oz be enough to finish a tele body and headstock? Also, is any one familiar with their Tru oil? Thanks. Quote
Rick500 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Not familiar with their stain, but lots of us here have used Tru-oil. I'm finishing my current build with it. I like it a lot. Quote
Dylanwad Posted February 1, 2009 Author Report Posted February 1, 2009 Thanks Rick, good news about the oil. Where can I get some small pieces os Alder and Maple to test the stain on? I'm in the UK. Quote
Quarter Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I'm a big fan of Tru Oil, check around this section for a couple threads on it. I've got a bottle of their Walnut stain that I've tested on some misc scrap and its got a nice rich medium color strait from the bottle. I'd think one bottle is enough for a Tele shape depending on how you use it and how deep a color your shooting for. Quote
Dylanwad Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 Cool, thanks Quarter. How much fumes do these things give off? Quote
Dylanwad Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 Excellent. I do have a good mask I got cheap off ebay when I was planning on painting another guitar (grew to like the original finish so I never did paint it!) but I also have a beard, they don't really mix. The less fumes the better! Quote
