Coolest Body Shapes

Not true. Dang near everything you see or do that is supposedly new or inventive takes it's inspiration or can have it's roots traced to something that already exists. The completely original ideas are so few and far between they are virtually non-existent. Everything draws from something else.

That is just something that uncreative people say when they are confronted with their uncreativity.

That's just something people who haven't tried acid say.

"if it was easy grandma's would be doing it.."

But I was making a joke..

Anyway...creativeity is tough...but isn't that the difference between succeeding as an "artist" and just kind of "almost" being there?

Nobody can say that Dave Mustaine was not creative...or how about the whole "reign in blood " album?

Everyone always says that everything has been done, until somebody comes along and does something new...then they say the same thing again..

Well..if that was even remotely true, why are you all here? Most people here are trying to adapt guitars they like into something they will like even better...seeing the flaws in a design and taking care of them is also creative...

It is just so counterproductive to say "everything has been done"...and it is not true anyway.

Get away from guitars for a minute...let's get waaay out there...

Space exploration...Nobody has been able to get out past the moon in a manned spacecraft yet...but there are thousands of scientists working on that very thing right now...coming up with ideas on how to do it,and in the process coming up with new materials to help bridge the gap between theory and reality...like materials that don't become brittle in the cold of space..

Back to guitar building...acrylized wood...impregnating wood with acrylic in order to make it stronger and more stable...and to color it all the way through as well...

That little invention means that otherwise unsuitable woods can be used on a guitar...where before they could not..

Stainless steel frets...something I use all the time...means I don't have to refret nearly as often, and it means that bends are more easily made and vibrato is effortless...

None of those things are of the magnitude of the wheel..but they are still a step forward...

Don't be happy with stagnation...just do it..it is human nature to create...

It is also human nature to veil your own shortcomings with excuses as to why it can't be done...

"it is not my fault...it is only that everything has already been done"

Anyway...these things are not meant to hurt anyone's feelings...they are meant to straighten a negative attitude into one more positive.. :D

Well of course not everything has been done. It's just impossible to do something new without drawing upon the old, because of the way our brains work. It's not like we just invented everything we have now out of nothing, in that case it wouldn't have taken us so long.

If someone tried to make completely original music, for instance, they would still be drawing upon the idea of music, and it would probably sound like crap to us because we've learned to like the Western 12-step scale for music.

It's more important to make progress than to make something original. Like to improve a body design, or make a shape that's especially eye-pleasing or ergonomic.

Yeah..I know people's feelings get hurt when they find they are not as creative as others... :D

You don't know when to give up, do you?

I mean, I could enter into a discussion about what is and what is not creativity and whether it is in fact even possible to be "more" creative than someone else. But that would be pointless with you, since macho posturing is more your thing.

But if you want macho, I can play that too, and much harder than you:

To me you're an intellectual dwarf. You're far below who I am, and always will be. And if we were face to face, I would make you cry within five minutes. Whatever you might have to say about me --or anyone else for that matter--is completely and utterly meaningless. But you already know this, and that is why you come to a guitar builders' forum to fluff up your sorry ego.

I do believe it's time for you to bow out of the forum again, cool off, sort out whatever problems you're having in your personal life. Then if you're able to come back here with a willingness to contribute in a positive, friendly manner, by all means do so.

In the meantime, you have overstepped your role as moderator and should be removed from that status right away.

The differences between our personalities is what makes this place and others like it interesting.

I saw nothing posted that warranted such a caustic, berating critique...maybe over-caffeinated today? :D

Oh no. Not you.

I mean, it's nice and all that you came trolling on back to the forum. But you really ought to stay out of this.

Obviously you see nothing wrong with anything Wes writes (unless you're in direct conflict with him, that is, since I believe Wes was why you dropped out of the forum the last time), because you enjoy taking the same role.

i have no idea what you are talking about...You started the whole thing because you did not like what I had to say...which was not even directed towards you...

As far as making me cry...Well..in all honesty this is such a hollow thing to say...I am every bit the man you are,and I somehow manage to get through life amongst tougher men than you will ever be..I am sure you believe you are more intelligent than me...honestly I don't care...I can tell from your posting that we are fairly similar in alot of ways...but right now you are just upset and I am not and never was...and actually I came here to learn to build guitars...did you?

But why don't you try to reread what I was talking about...because aside from the tiny jab in response to the whole stupid "unartistic" thing which I editted at the urging of Prostheta(the bruce willis thing),my postings have nothing to do with you...honestly I care nothing about you right now....why would I?

You mean nothing to me...why do I matter to you?Maybe I should have put smileys on my jokes about "uncreativity"..then maybe you would have understood?

I mean, it's nice and all that you came trolling on back to the forum.

Trolling, really? You were the first troll baiter in this topic...I was just talking about the possibilities of being creative...

seriously...reread

Yeah...that would have been nice...considering that is what we were talking about...

Opinions are great.you can talk about your opinions about creativity all day.I think you just have something eating at you in your personal life, like you claim that I do...

Honestly it's clear you are unhappy...build a guitar or something. That would be nice...it coud be your first.

Wait...I think I figured out why you are so pissed...from what I heard earlier from Prostheta and from what you said in your post...I think you must have posted a response to my Bruce willis thing and you think i deleted it?is that right?

I never saw any response post...Prostheta asked me to take care of my post,so I edited MINE...and only mine...If you had a post edited or deleted it must have been one of the other mods..maybe Prostheta himself trying to prevent a flame war.

Anyway...If that is the problem why don't we just move on.I honestly don't care.I am doing other stuff.

Wow. :D

1. Wes had nothing whatsoever to do with me leaving the Internet, I can tell you that for sure.

Moreso marriage, buying a house, and just getting into other things besides posting on forums and building guitars.

2. If there's something I personally did that bothered you, PM me and we'll work it out, I have nothing but good regard for what you do and build and enjoy your posts very much, and had no idea you had so much hostility directed toward me (or Wes).

3. You are certainly fired up about something tho, that much anger just eats you up inside, I hope you get it figured out, you're a good guy. :D

Drak,

I dont believe that he has something specifically against you. I have watched this forum for a long time, and Mickguard seems to have issues with everyone in existence, and always thinks he has a right to attack.

I'm going to have to support wes being here. He's a good mod and he's helped Avengers and I out a lot in the creative/building process. The only thing wes said was "everything has not been invented already" and then he made a sarcastic joke. I forget what the joke was at the moment, and i'm too lazy to look back on it, but whatever. It was a joke, and everything else he had to say contributed to the topic.

I'm gonna go work on my Corvus now.

This has to be the most unusual without being gaudy guitar I have ever seen.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/bugl...dreRockoval.jpg

That thing is funky. What kind of electronics are those? I've never seen anything like that before.

There seems to be something wrong with the link. Here is a thumbnail from photo bucket.

Here is a link to some pages that give some info on these guitars. The neck is made of a special aluminum called duraluminum. The pickups were made by Davolis according to the article. I love the design it's unusual but looks in harmony. This guitar is a piece of art IMHO.

Woody, this is not aimed against you personally. But you have been on this forum for what, a year? Mickey has been here for 5 years. He does NOT have an issue with everyone. He is generous and helping even thou he have strong opinions (especially if he has too much coffee). That is a completely different thing from “having issues with everyone”.

If there is a controversy between two or three members, there are no reasons for any other member to jump in on someone like that. Please let’s stay civilized and stay out of other peoples fights. If you have a problem with anyone, notify a moderator, or Brian.

Yeah...cause mick and Wes and Drak have nothing on me apparently...check out this recent description on here from the other day...

You really are a nasty piece of work...etc, etc...Frankly I find your attitude despicable, arrogant, presumptious, conceited and spiteful, and it seems to be way beyond you to be capable of apologising for giving offense - but just remember '...as you sow, so shall you reap'.

So back off...

...

Now...back on topic...

There is something about the features and construction techniques in these things that have always appealed...

sj202c03.jpg

Not everyone's cup of tea...but some fine workmanship and some unique neck construction features...LINK

4evernecklayout.jpg

No truss wood, carbon fibre and unique timbers for neck construction both internally and externally...also a nice asymmetrical neck profile that would appeal to me in the way I play and be a little more ergonomic...

asym.jpg

Anyway...stuck with me for a while...

Is that you on that display pic, Mick?

Oh by the way i'm gonna have to agree with wes on this one. There is new things under the sun, just not that many.
