goat Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 After painting there is glue residue on my ebony fretboard from finishing tape. What is best way/item to remove the glue? Quote
www Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Try rubbing alcohol on it, and then a little tung oil to cover the lighter spot caused by the alcohol. Quote
MikeB Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 try meths or naptha (lighter fluid) try onb an inconspicuous spot first! mike Quote
renablistic Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 I've always had good luck with rubbing alcholol. Quote

ryeisnotcool2 Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 use "GOO GONE" you can get it anywhere! its a citrus cleaner for just that type of thing! i use it all the time on my fret boards! doesnt change the wood at all! and smells fresh! plus it puts a nice smooth feel to the board! bluespresence Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 I'm with rye on the "GOO GONE". The stuff is great and doesn't stain or discolor the wood. Leaves your guitar smellin like an orange grove too!! Quote
goat Posted December 20, 2003 Author Report Posted December 20, 2003 Great.I have a bottle of that stuff Quote
butnut Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Use the 3M blue painters masking tape...comes off clean. If taping off 'fresh' lacquer, use the 3M green made for lacquer. It's worth spending a little more for good tape. Good luck. Quote
