rockinrobert Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 I am debating buying a Carvin neck through and building an Explorer with a flame maple top. Trouble is, I can't seem to find anyplace that carries bookmatched tops that are big enough. Most pieces listed are 7 inches wide for each half, making of course a 14 inch wide top. My Ibanez lawsuit Destroyer (exact copy of 58 Explorer) measures 10 inches wide from the middle of the guitar to the edge of the large bout on the upper side of the guitar. So that means I need a top with 10 inch minimum matched halves...or 20 ich wide total, correct? I just wonder where Hamer and companies like that get wood to top out their Explorers. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, bOb. Quote
