marko_slash
How to do finish on maple necks (i am talking about the back of the neck) like Ibanez do, so it's not shiny like on fenders, it has to be mat. What finish they use? Thanks.

Going to be doing it on a neck i have.
ihocky2
I am not positive, but I believe Fender uses a thin coat or two of poly and leaves it as a matte finish. I personally prefer tung oil if time is not an issue. Or else I use Danish Oil quite often. Builds up a thin film but still has more of a natural wood feel. marko_slash
Can I use clear nitro and just leave it unpolished?
ihocky2
Yes, but you'll still want to sand it flat and take it up to like 800 or 1000 grit and then switch to steel wool or scoth brite pads. Straight from the can will still feel sticky.
marko_slash
Yes, I meant to just sand it with like 1200 grit and leave it like that, so it will be ok?
