I am currently restroing a 1970 (i think) gibson les paul custom. I have been looking around for a while but have been unable to find any method for removing bits of yellow that is on the binding. Its not as if its a normal aging, where everything yellows, but more like there are parts that are an ugly yellow, and other parts of the binding that are still nice and white. Is there any chemical that can take of the yellow? or would i just have to replace the binding? thanks for your help.

I would leave it alone, because it's the clear nitro finish that has been yellowed. I still haven't found anything that will take the yellow off of an aged nitro clearcoat. But then again, I haven't searched hard because I think it gives the guitar that vintage look :D

The only option I can think of is take off the clearcoat and apply a new one which doesn't yellow by age.
