PunkRockerLuke
when I finally have toime to get it done I will be painint in with a pre- 56 two tone sunburst (stew-mac finishing book) I will however be tinting the grain filler so that the nice figured maple tops grain will show up. I will also be vintage staining the neck. My main question is would it be smarter to use white grain filler to pop the grain in the outer ring or black to pop the grain in the inner part of the sunbusrt. Im asking because this is my first finish and althoguh it is elaborate for a first I really wan this grain to show. 55 strat: http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prodimages...20just%20in.jpg Edited March 23, 2010 by PunkRockerLuke
ihocky2
Grain filler won't do much of anything to figured maple. Maple is a closed pore wood, so there is nowhere for the grain filler to go, it will all just get wiped or sanded off. You need dyes to pop the grain on figured maple.
