thespen
Hey guys it's been a while since I've been in need of advice so hopefully this is a good question as I'm not totally sure on the answer! I am in the process of drawing up plans for a bass I want to make. While discussing with some friends my ideas for some crazy pickup setups one mentioned that spacing is super important. I have never had trouble in the past working with guitars but this is my first real scratch bass build. So my question is then on a bass is the spacing from the bridge to each different pickup incredibly important for the sound? And if so what are the benefits or hindrances to the sound of putting them outside the suggested placement? I assumed that like guitar the location of the strings over the pole pieces was all that mattered but I could be very wrong. It wouldn't be the first time! Thanks in advance to any who can help me out!
Buter
I asked a similar question this summer and here are the replies. Cheers Buter
thespen
Thanks Buter! Odd that didn't show up in my searches but what can you do! I feel a little more comfortable going ahead with my insane pickup plans now.
