GuitarMan686
Just put some new strings on a jackson dinky. At the 17th fret on the high E im noticing a total dead fret. All other frets at the 17th position are fine. Im not getting any sort of sound out of it. Ive checked the fret to see if it was loose and I dont notice it being loose. The frets seem pretty even as well. I have some buzzing going on onther frets but the action is very low. Any ideas on what could be causing this and some possible solutions? mannym
Did you use the same gauge? Did you change gauges? You could try adjusting the Floyd's posts for a slightly higher action on the high E to see if that helps. make sure the new string is sitting as it should in the nut and saddle also. Sounds basic but you never know. Cheers Manny
RAI6
A bum string, perhaps........?
ihocky2
Did you change gauges, brands, anything different about the strings. Different strings have different tensions and if you have a Floyd Rose that will through off how the bridge is sitting. Make sure the bridge plate is level to the guitar top. GuitarMan686
I did change strings. Trying out some new dunlop heavy bottoms. I had on 10's and this high E is still a 10. After some analyzing it looks like the fret has a little scratch on it and I believe the string is digging into it. Think a fret dressing might be in order?
