SwedishLuthier
The MorningStar Resolectric This guitar is a copy of a guitar I made several years ago. Ever after the customer picked that other guitar up I have wanted one for myself. The most of the design elements are similar, like the clam shell body construction, the biscuit bridge cone, the Armstrong lipstick magnetic pickup (still trying to learn how to wind those…) and the McIntyre acoustic pickup. However there are several features that differ too. The body is made from mahogany this time, giving it a slightly bassier sound and the headstock shape is my updated current version. But the most distinguishing difference is perhaps in the electronics. Instead of a solid state preamp/mixer this have two distinct signal paths leading to a true stereo out. This enables me to rout the lipstick signal to my on stage amp and the cone pickup to the house PA. Or feed different amp-paths from each sound source in my POD for recordings and adding the sound from a good studio microphone for that deep swamp blues sound. And the biggest secret is hidden inside the guitar, beneath the cone; an on-board preamp based on a sub-miniature tube and a very simple circuitry. I got hold of a few of those preamp kits a few years back and have waited for the right project to appear. This was it. The tube has plenty of boost so that I can go directy into a console and it delivers a fat warm natural sound. The best amplified resonator sound I have ever heard.
