jeremyp Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 I'm planning a sg build with a 27" scale, joining at the 20th fret (25.5" scale at 1st fret so this is 19th fret like a sg special). I was planning to have the truss rod go the full length of the fretboard but to do that i need about 20.5 inches. where can i find a rod of this length for a 3/8" channel? Quote

jeremyp Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 ahh but that is too long for what i'm planning. 22 and 24 inch truss rods start poking into where my pickups should be Quote
Dave_B Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 LMI can get whatever size you'd like. Not sure of the price. Quote
sdshirtman Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Try Allied Lutherie, Its a little longer than what you want but it might work. https://ssl.sonic.net/cgi-bin/alliedlutherie/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=PTR2WB Its 21.75" . Quote
Ripthorn Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Might I ask why you need a rod that runs the entire length? I'm not trying to be critical, I just think that you might be able to achieve the desired effect with a standard rod. Also, single action truss rods can be made at home easily and for any length (need a curved channel, though). Quote
jeremyp Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 @ripthorn i was never sure how far i should go with the length of the truss rod but i figured it should atleast be able to effect the carved portion of the neck, having the block ends in the heel and at the nut. I dont really want a single action rod lol Quote
westhemann Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 18" is long enough.Really,so is 17 1/2" Quote
jeremyp Posted September 29, 2011 Author Report Posted September 29, 2011 can i get diagrams haha? i'm just wanting input on the desired layout of the neck/truss rod/body joins Quote
