bob123 Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Never a problem I've seen with urethanes, is there a way to combat polyester resin shrinkage? Im FAR too **** for me to believe I MISSED spots on the edge. Its like the paint has been "pulled in" due to cohesion or something. Is it a paint type/brand thing or is this just something I need to live with? Id hate to just absolutely over spray anything here. Quote
demonx Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Different products shrink more than others. All will shrink as they cure. Epoxy is a massive shrinker. I once epoxied a whole headstock just to see what it'd look like and it shrank/pulled as you described about 5mm at all edges. Needless to say I never used it for that purpose again! Quote

Still tryin to get this crap figured out -.- would a 2nd coat fix this, or will it simply pull away again? Quote
demonx Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 If it's pulled it it won't be flat anymore, so you would have to sand if flat again for starters. You could try a second coat and hope that the first coat will help it stay, but there's no promises I'd probably suggest trying a different product that has predictable results Quote
