bob123 Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 currently working on another build, and dabbling at headstock ideas. Im doing a hardtail JS style with 3 single coil pups. Body blanks are being glued up right now specs : - Crotch walnut top, flame maple back, but will be rounded into each other, so the flame maple will poke out the sides, it looks good in my head anyway... - walnut/tigerwood/walnut neck, with tigerwood fretboard -Hardtail -S/S/S pup config -individual mini toggles, master volume, master tone heres my crappy mockup, I had to us MSPAINT to use it, dont have any fancy photo editing software... guess my question, does the PRS headstock look out of place? I think it suits the build, but other eyes on it is always welcome in my book. Be brutal here, I wont get offended rsonally! Quote
Tim37 Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 if the body had sharper edges it would remind me of a schecter. Quote
Maiden69 Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 The PRS headstock suits a lot of shapes, especially double and single cuts, so I think that it looks good there. Quote
Prostheta Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 It is a mix of soft and sharp. PRS gets away with it because the carve is sharp and throws defined reflections. The Ibanez body is all about constantly shifting radii so they don't mix well. Even a little softening of the headstock would improve the marriage. Quote
bob123 Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 I decided to keep the avante garde down and am going with a normal, ibanez headstock Ill post pictures tomorrow. Quote
