EMG bass wiring?

I was reading about EMG's (the bass P-J set in particular) and noticed that they somehow have only three wires coming out of each pickup, making normal wiring (i.e. without buying a special EMG kit) impossible. What gives?

Anyway, does anyone know where I can find some plans for wiring up EMGs with mods beyond what the pickups come with (vol. vol. tone)? I was hoping for something along the lines of

Master Vol

Blend

Master (or separate) tone

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

PS anyone who can explain any POSSIBLE reason for the 3 wire arrangement will be my hero forever and ever.

Weird. My P/J set (made in 2000) had one wire coming from each one. It just had a mesh, and a hot wire on it.

Sorry, i can't help you with the blend knob. I really only know how to 2v, 1t.

does yours look like this..

am i right in assuming that you wish to use one pot to blend between the p and the j pickups then have a master volume for the whole thing. and then a tone pot

usually the three wire thing is hot ground and voltage.

perhaps i am missing somethign and i appologize in adavance if i am but i have installed many bass systems in and perhaps a pic of your pickup would help matters..
