willliam_q Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 I've been looking at a lot of guitar making videos on youtube recently and came across Crimson Guitars youtube channel. I believe this guy is a luthier genius! He machines his own control knobs and bridges from time to time. He has a Bubinga heavily carved superstrat type guitar on his website at the moment which just looks fantastic. I've been watching the tutorial videos and find them excellent, worth a look if any of you haven't already seen his stuff. Just be warned, he tends to go off topic quite a bit and has an 'eccentric' way about him so you can quite easily tune out. Quote
rhoads56 Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 I always shout at the screen "shut the f#$k up and get to the point!". Can never, ever make it more than half way through a video. Quote
Prostheta Posted November 30, 2013 Report Posted November 30, 2013 Yes, I've seen a few of his videos and he is/was a member here also. I'd like to see a video of Perry watching one of those videos. hahahaha Quote
rhoads56 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 How about a video of me just actually working? http://www.pozible.com/project/173550 </blatant thread derailing> Quote
Prostheta Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Gotta talk to justify yourself Perry. The end result isn't as important as yapping. ;-) Quote

Not to say he is not a good guy...I am also with Pro. I will pay to watch Perry watching one of those videos. Actually we should hop a flight to Perth and watch it with him in person. I think I owe him a few pints anyway.Good work digging up the videos though as you can always learn a trick or a new approach (and some ways not to do things). We should always look to learn new things. Quote
Bjorn.LaSanche Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Oh Mah Gawd!!!! Perry that quilting and finish on the head stock at 0:36 of that video is AMAZINGLY SICK!!! It actually looks like sand under water like in pictures of the Caribbean or Fiji. When is this bit of guitar porn going to be released? Put me down for a copy. Back to the thread topic. I have watched most of the Crimson Guitars videos and find them somewhat interesting. I do agree he does ramble a bit, but you can tell he probably has quite a few things going on in his mind while he is taping. I have done the same when showing a less experienced person how to do a task while explaining how to do a task at my day job. Quote

willliam_q Posted December 19, 2013 Author Report Posted December 19, 2013 I've actually stopped watching his new videos since I last posted about this. he goes too far of topic recently. I agree it's likely he has a lot on hi mind but the video suffers too much for it. I also find that you have to watch an hour just to get the smallest little tip that just might be useful. I watched some of Perry's videos, quite entertaining, don't know what your work experience guy thought when you offered to shave his balls after sharpening a chisel! :-) Quote
Prostheta Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 It's not the edge that is the dangerous part. It's the corners that nick you when shaving. Ask me how I know. Quote
willliam_q Posted December 19, 2013 Author Report Posted December 19, 2013 How do you know? Lol Quote
