demonx
Quick update, Mathews E7 has just passed it's final "distressing" stage, not going for a trashed look, just a worn look. Dayne's SS6 is cleared, cut and polished: This pic was taken whilst the clear was still wet in the paint room: This pic I took today after cut and polishing the neck:

demonx
I decided Daynes SS6 clear wasn't up to scratch, to I sanded it back and sprayed again. This pic is of the second wet sand process (cut) before the polish: Here it is in the rack along with a few others on the go at the moment: I picked up this piece of Aussie timber, anyone with a dirty mind will find a bit of a picture in there! This one will become a superstrat late this year or next year. This pic was taken before I sanded and resprayed: I'm still drooling over this Tiger Myrtle binding:

demonx
Looks like a dog's arse. Ummm, not quite sure what to make of that. I'd hate to see what your report would be after a ink blot test session!

ScottR
I see what you both see ...... and more. That SS6 is gorgeous, and that is a fine set of timbers displayed in that rack. This is turning into quite the operation you have going there. SR
Sancho Marino
I really like the carves/curves of your guitars, they just look lethal. The heel shaping on your SS's is perfect, unfettered access with a natural sweeping look to it... Also, having owned a Rottweiler with a stubby nub of a tail... I can see the dog's arse in the ink blot too

demonx
Do you carve into the side of the fretboard, or is that an illusion? Yes, I do. Makes for a better feeling neck in my opinion. Have to be very careful though when there's binding that you don't carve through the bottom of it. My necks are pretty thin (19mm at the nut) and I like to take more off the edges than most others, so I need to carve/shape the edge like this or it feels like a flat spot to your hand and at the end of the day the neck is all about how it feels to your hand. I can see the dog's arse in the ink blot too Thanks for the kind words. As for this ink blot, what I see is a gym fit woman, from behind, bending over, arms either side, you can see the muscle in her lower back and both her holes. Those seeing a dogs arse as opposed to that, well, I'm not going there!

Prostheta
I think it's about time you renewed the organic filters on your mask Allen. You're thinkin' funny. Seriously though. The quality of your work has elevated to a completely different level to where you were when you first started up. Keep it up.
ScottR
I've noticed that a few years ago most everything you posted was painted, and lately it all seems to be nice timbers and some version of clear. Is that due to demand, your own changing interests, or something else? The stuff is looking good, regardless. SR

Is that due to demand, your own changing interests, or something else? Guess you could call it a change of scenery. Or, I guess you could call it that everyone seems to order timber with clear coats. Nearly every guitar I've built over the last few years has been an order, I've had little time for project guitar or stick items. It'll come back full circle. I've got plans for solid colored builds coming up.

Thanks heaps. I really should hope so, I've been working hard at ironing out flaws that my earlier builds had and things are coming together at a much higher level these days. Even the way they play is getting better and better and the consistency is now becoming less random which is always a good thing, that all comes back to working out my process rather than just winging it, so that I do the same thing over and over, sure I still experiment to find better processes, but it's all about working out what works for me. I'm sure I'm never going to see one in my neighborhood. SRIt's an old pine tree, possibly a hundred or so years old. Where I live is an old gold mining area so there's bits and pieces tucked away from the 1800's. Most of the old trees were cut down years before I moved into the area (about ten years ago), but this one is in an empty block next door to my house and is quite a massive specimen. No good for guitar building so I guess it'll have to do as a prop!
killemall8
Do those super strats balance well? It seems like with those neck woods and full sized headstock it would neck dive like crazy.

They balance fine. Never had a complaint and Ive had guys play them on tours up and down the east coast of Australia for years.
killemall8
I forgot you make your bodies full thickness. That must offset the neck woods.
