soul7 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I just got a tele body and upon receiving it I have carefully measure the neck pocket dimensions only to find out that it is not the standard Fender neck route dimensions. It measure 2 1/4" wide and 11/16" deep. I was wondering if it would be easier to add material to the neck itself or to the neck pocket. I fortunately work in a cabinet shop and have access to materials and machinery to get this done just haven't ever had to do it and thought I would get some input.I have some .5 mil wood edge banding that I think would be good to use in layers added to the neck or pocket to take care of the width issue and I can cut a piece of material to the length and width to cover the bottom of the pocket or back of neck. What would you do? Thanks in advance for your input on this one! Edited January 25, 2014 by soul7 Quote
killemall8 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 If it were me, i woudl glue a piece of veneer to the side of the neck, then sand it to fit the neck pocket perfectly . Quote
LightninMike Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 So the pocket is 1/16" oversize all around it winds up being 1/32" to each side of the pocket or the neck and 1/16" on the bottom of the pocket or neck If it is a neck you want to use later, then do it in the pocket Quote
soul7 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 Thanks for the replies. I will be ordering a neck for this one so I will add some veneer material more than likely and then fit it to the pocket. Love this forum! Quote
