Brian
Hi Blackstrat86 and welcome to the forum The top coat can be just about anything but for purpose's of starting out with Plasticote paints I would recommend Minwax Polyacrylic. Your biggest challenge is going to be avoiding those dreadfull sand through's on the edge's so take your time and I hope you have plenty of patient's. Guitar1Jesse
Minwax Polyacrylic I believe is water-based. Can that be applied over oils (oils fully dried of course)?
Guitar1Jesse
Anyone?
Brian
It's pretty safe to use the rattle cans, your biggest problem is going to be building up the finish so you can level it off and also watch out for any sand throughs. If you can find someone that has a professional set up a nice 2 part poly works best.
