kmensik
No, it looks 1st class. I know what you mean, with all the fancy tops seen around, the plain black is plain, but not cheap, elegant. You gave it the time and care, and it shows through. It has so many little eye catching features that make me think wow.
Prostheta
The way that the bone logo turned out was a wonderful piece of serendipity. It's too easy for things to lose their depth and look more like a waterslide decal than an actual inlaid piece of material.
Norris
The guitar looks fantastic. I love the way you have rolled of the end of the fretboard behind the nut.
psikoT
Thanks! I'm gonna drop this one right to the GOTM... there are already two beauties over there, which makes the competition almost inaccessible, but interesting... no hope though. ScottR
You snuck these in while I was out of town. Man, it looks stellar! Very nicely done. It will be fun to see if you work in any work for your gouges on your next one. they were certainly successful on this one. SR
psikoT
Thanks!... Hand tools will be present in my next builds more often, I fear... I want to try with hand planes too.
Prostheta
Are you thinking Ibex-style finger planes, Veritas' palm planes or simpler block planes? I'm sure that you'll get use out of any of those of course. Oddly, I'd found that I would likely benefit more from a shoulder plane or chisels that sit flush like bullnose planes. It never ends! Talking of GOTM, is it me or are we seeing a play for a last minute GOTY run this month? It's looking like a mighty lineup. Remember that everybody can enter for three months if they didn't win out in the last round....
psikoT
I was thinking to start using hand planes mostly for leveling big plain surfaces, like tops, veneers, fingerboards, necks, etc... but that's more a sharpening topic... Yep, the GOTM this month was full of beauties, just wanted to throw some gasoline to the fire... repeating a GOTM makes no sense to me, but thanks for recall. Prostheta
It's good feedback to take on about not repeating a GOTM entry. Nobody has done this yet so I guess we'll take it onboard. Sometimes you get a month where there's one stunning entry that just swipes the win against an otherwise amazing month of other entries. I guess it was more to level the playing field a bit. If the participant loses the month, he probably will lose the year as well. I'm not against that feature though, maybe someone finds it useful. I really would love to see more entries every month, that makes the vote more interesting.

Prostheta
Yes. Yes you do. To be fair though, you can buy a high quality thick iron such as from Hocktools.com and make a good wooden block plane yourself. If you thought THAT was impressive..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrmCyADNhe0
psikoT
That was... is it possible to get such papyrus from hard woods, like maple or ebony?
