Adam Brown Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Hi folks, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever worked with graphite for bodies and necks? Did you like it? I'm asking because I've heard good things about Rainsong, Emerald and (possibly) Modulus(?)... The tone is supposed to be warm, and ya... I guess they don't have to chop a tree down! Quote
syxxstring Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Ive cut some to make micro Rc Car chasis. What a pain in the.... Seriously you'll need special blades or tools to cut it. Maybe easier to mold but theres something entirely new to learn. Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 The Dust and Slinters are EXTREMELY Dangerous. If you get a splinter, get it out. if it's allowed to stay in your skin its possible to get in your blood stream and eventually your heart where it could do serious damage by puncturing something Quote
Adam Brown Posted January 22, 2004 Author Report Posted January 22, 2004 Oh Lord!! Are you serious!? I had no idea!! Never mind... I guess all those companies pour liquid graphite into moulds like syxxstring was saying. I just imagined that you could recreate the tonal structures from different woods, but without cutting trees down... Ah well... TIMBER! heh Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 It's not poured, its layed like fiberglass. the carbon fiber is actually cloth like then a liquid epoxy resin is put on it to make it hard Quote
