Lex Luthier Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I just got another bottle of titebond because the cap on my current bottle broke, and I thought I'd use the cap of the new bottle to finish off what's in the old bottle. Anyway, I took the cap off my old bottle and off the new bottle, and noticed the old bottle STINKS like rotten eggs or something, I then compared it to the new bottle and it smells 'fresh' I guess would be the term. I am NOT sniffing glue, it's just when I removed the cap on the old bottle, the smell was hard to miss. My question is can glue go bad? If so I'll just chuck the half empty old bottle, that's olny 3$ worth of glue, and I just got another one anyway. Quote
westhemann Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 does it have a "born on "date? Quote
goat Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 My question is can glue go bad? I heard for fine instruments,6 months-year,get a new batch. Quote
daveq Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Yes - if you've had it for more than 6 months you should consider grabbing a new one. More than a year - definitely get a new one. Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Yes, and freezing teperatures can help it to go bad. Been there too. Just about puked. Quote
Lex Luthier Posted January 24, 2004 Author Report Posted January 24, 2004 Thanks guys, thrown out. I've also written the date on the new bottle so I know when I should get a new one. Quote
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Good idea. I think I should do that too. Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 I think I read somewhere on www.lmii.com that they recommend to "smell test" their glue. If it smells sour or rotten the don't use it. They should know about it.... Quote
