GuitarMan686
Hello, Just got in a 1997 USA fender strat. Previous owner sanded the body and "stained" the neck. Basically just applied ebony wood stain on the fretboard. I cleaned the neck with alcohol and lemon oil. Some staining remains. What would be the best way to get this out? Thanks Edited June 14, 2017 by GuitarMan686
ScottR
I know of nothing other than sandpaper.... or possibly a scraper. SR
GuitarMan686
1000 or 1500 grit?
ScottR
You could finish with either. You would probably want to start with something in the 220 to 400 range to get deep enough into the pores to get past the stain. SR
GuitarMan686
I did the scrapping with a utility knife blade. Worked real nicely. I'm going to hit it with a little sand next. Thanks! How about sanding the back of the neck? Neck has a light finish on it with some indents. I wanted to just pass over it a bit.
ScottR
No problem sanding the back of the neck. In fact, I recommend it if it has a gloss finish. I think it will feel better. SR
