RestorationAD
Headstock cleaned up and reshaped (shorten the point and less exaggeration in the curves) . I might make a few more changes later.
RestorationAD
I decided to plug up all the holes before putting the top on. I am probably going to change where the bridge sits and the string routes. Better safe than sorry. Because I am working on voodoo I use the plug cutter to cut maple plugs with the grain running the right direction. I hate trying to redrill posts in end grain. Going to close all these
RestorationAD
Clamp it up and wait It was pretty cold so I brought it inside last night.
RestorationAD
Looks pretty good. I am going to quickly rough cut the top so the veneer and back are easier to glue on. I started with the dragon rasp on the butt and the inner horns.

RestorationAD
Also going to cut out the neck pocket. Any excuse to use my Japanese saws I can find. Then the trim router.
RestorationAD
Everything I have used on this guitar was scrap or destined for the trash bin. SO to keep the theme alive I am using the two sample veneers that came with the last order of veneer, Free flamed maple is always good. Glued the veneer and the back on at the same time because I am impatient. More pictures of clamps.

mistermikev
my thoughts out loud: "dang, not sure I'm onboard with a walnut top with miss-matched flamed headstock... oh, well now that does look really nice with fm on top"! Did not see where this was going. Looks nice. Cudos.
soggybag
Nice work! Looks like you’re having a lot of fun with this. There’s a lot of inspiration in the limitations you’ve imposed on yourself for this project.

RestorationAD
Time to set the bridge. I reduced the neck angle so need to recess the bridge.
RestorationAD
I am going to angle the pickup. I measured every 24.75 guitar in the house and they all use 24" to the back of the pickup. For this I used 24" to the back of the slant. Then slanted the pup to match the slant in the bridge. "Voodoo" The pickup route template uses 1/4" bit on the CNC so the 1/2" radius from the hand router was not enough. Luckily I have a 1/4" bit the right depth to use the shaft as a template guide.
