Crusader
I just realised I have neglected posting the progress on repairing this guitar. It was a massive headache but its turning out quite well I am fortunate enough to have some off-cuts of Mahogany left over from the 1990's I always thought there must be something I can do with these Oh well so I just had to dig deeper and find a piece that was big enough and got on with it!
Bizman62
Wow! Nice job with the add-on strip, even at the end. Looks like it was originally built that way!
Crusader
Cheers thanks, it was an awful lot of work but I like this guitar so its worth it To finish off the repair I put binding on which I really like and I want to put on any future projects. Its funny I never would have bothered with binding if it weren't for this stuff-up Also: I thought this is a very unconventional way of doing binding so I was going to ask how to go about it from here but much to my surprise there is a tutorial on StewMac how to do it this exact same way, so its not so unconventional after all! (I also want to do block inlays, but I think thats asking for trouble!)
Bizman62
There's so many things you can do if only you have some courage! Nicely done with the binding as well as the entire project.
Crusader
Thank you its very re-assuring. Yes there are incredible things you can achieve once you give it a go. But I take so long to do things, I bought that body blank in 2009. That's TEN years ago!! Cheers!

Crusader
Now that the ES-137 is sprayed I have time to focus on the LPC3 My main concern was how to do the Binding but it went well after I got into it Next I tackled the nick in the Headstock from the router I found the offcuts Did some fancy cutting Glued in, cut out excess and smoothed off

Crusader
Thanks guys but I think its just that some things turn out well. I've still got a lot to do to get this baby up and running. I've done some sanding on the neck profile and its okay so far, just going a little at a time cheers
Crusader
Getting back to this one, after I repaired the left-hand side I noticed the right-had side needs some TLC as well The first photo shows a nick in the Headstock veneer and look closely the mahogany repair strip goes along too far So I set up a jig just to take out some of the veneer Dad's old saw still works fine Now both sides repaired Put in some Fret Dots and and its ready for sanding and lacquer Edited May 2, 2020 by Crusader
Bizman62
Didn't you just patch the headstock veneer? Now where's the patch now? Sorcery, I say!

I forgot to point out this is the other side. So thanks for comment, I have re-worded my post. Cheers Edited May 2, 2020 by Crusader
Bizman62
Huh? With my English skills I noticed nothing wrong with the wording. I just can't find the patch!
