Two guitars - Opinions

I have someone wanting something unique.  They liked the Encore but wanted a single cut or the even possibly the Pennant.  I played around with the designs a little to get some possible contenders.  I have a color scheme on the Pennant I really want to do.  What you guys think?   Encore is the "roundish" one and Pennant is the "pointy" one inspired by a flag.  Nothing unique for the encore headstock yet.

Have I told you before that your designing skills are outstanding!

I prefer the classical style for my own guitars but the Pennant is a very interesting looking guitar. Not only does she look good, also the slanted lower bout makes it ergonomic for the forearm. The red and black scheme is also nice although I'm a little biased since those are the heraldic colours of Carelia... Anyhow, that would look cool both painted/dyed or made with layers of natural woods featuring those colours. As a wood porn addict I can imagine the red being some dyed basic pale body wood like Ash, Aspen, Basswood, Poplar... and the top of something quilted with the grain popped to look like a black panther... 🤤

I too, prefer custom designs. And the Pennant is the most custom of the two.....and way cool too.

I like the encore too. No way for you to know probably, but it is very reminiscent of a body style designed by one our members- verhovenc. His Marlin of several years back was gorgeous.

If I'm going to build guitars I really rather make something original.  I think Andy hit the nail on the head.  The encore is a style upgrade on a familiar body style.  Even if people want something unique It seems they are generally very leery of going on that edge.  They just have a hard time envisioning what that would be.

Thanks for the opinions guys.

I like the 2nd one.  something about a 90deg angle on a lower horn... never see a guitar with that I don't like.  No idea why that really appeals to me, but it does.  when I ask for feedback I am always looking for more than "It looks good" so I'll try to give you that here.  I love the lines of the guitar, esp that spot at the tail where the top 'red part' ends.  I'm left feeling like it'd be really nice if there was an equal point like that on the headstock.  I like the headstock as is, and you kind of almost have that point right now where the red meets black at the front... but if the black was less pointy there and sort of matched that delicate rounded part from the back.

just one aholes o.
