BMXGUY
Hi i just bought a internal stratoblaster board from generalguitargadgets, i was wondering if a push pull pot could be used to control it, i dont know much about these pots so i was wondering if when its pushed in it would control the tone and when its out i control the stratoblaster but when its on tone will the stratoblaster still be on? Also any more tips or info about this would be great. Thanks alot
lovekraft
Yes, you can use a DPDT push-pull pot to bypass the Stratoblaster, and it will still work as a tone control. The 'Blaster is simply a preamp, and the push-pull pot is two isolated components in one package, so the switch and the pot have no effect on one another. There are no "controls" on the GC version of the 'Blaster; it's a "Set-It-And-Forget-It" preamp, so set the trimmer for the gain you want, and just turn it on and off. You can still control your volume with your guitar's volume control.
BMXGUY
whats the better of the two options , and if i were to do it with a push pull pot would i just take the trim of the pc board and wire it there thanks
lovekraft
Sorry, I'm obviously not making it clear. The switch portion of the DPDT pot will bypass or engage the 'Blaster circuit without affecting the pot (which will remain a tone pot, in this case). The gain trimmer is on the board (R4). Use the wiring diagram on the site to hook up your switch, power up and adjust the gain trim, close up the cavity and rock (in between battery changes). Then the tone knob will always be a tone knob, but by pulling it up, you engage the 'Blaster. I hope that helps.
