Jayywoods91
I'm going to attempt my first build. I have always wood worked but just got into guitar making/ playing. I have some 8/4 mahogany laying around but not enough. Is it frowned upon to laminate 4/4 boards together to get what I need ? And also suggestions on a site to gethardware and components? Invader Zim
Use what you have and build. Gibson made pancake body Les Pauls. Fender clamshelled the Thinline.

There's single piece bodies and two piece bodies but three piece bodies aren't an exception. Or four. Or 50...:

Bjorn.LaSanche
I have to laminate this Bloodwood board for the body of the V I’m about to start building week after next. Why not? All the fancy Ibanez Rockett Roll V’s were thickness laminated.
ChipMonk
I don't want to start a flame-war, but I will if I must. These two videos pretty much sums up my views on tonewoods for electric bodys: TLDR; Other than the neck and fret wood, the body isn't going to make any noticeable difference. Now. Having said that. I built my desk out of 40mm full-stave Iroko and treated it with Danish oil. I love looking at it, I love feeling it and I love using it on a daily basis. I would not feel this way if I had used MDF. It would be just as useful, it would act the same, but I would not feel the same about it.
