Bad Moon Guitars
In your veneer tutorial you said that the venner may bubble and seperate from the body when you stain it. Would it be possible to stain and seal the veneer sheets and allow them to dry before applying them to the guitar? Thanks. Keith
westhemann
i think that is a bad idea because then it will bubble and warp even more i believe if you use an oil based stain or an alcohol dye (i would use the dye)then that issue won't be a problem. someone correct me if i am wrong
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
makes sense, if water based glue was used.
Brian
My main problem that caused that in the first place was a real lack of education. I applied way to much stain to it to begin with thus letting the wood soak it up and swell off the body since it was so thin. You'll be pretty safe if you rub it on using a moist cloth instead of brushing it on like I did.

The REAL Nordic God
Dont stain, use acryllics, not only will it bubble it will muddy the wood grain, keep it clear, keep it safe.
