nakedzen
Done! Sounds and plays great! The finish could be a lot better, but lesson's learned... So many mistakes, can't even remember them all. Murphy's law really hit it home with this build.
Muzz
What a gorgeous guitar, it makes me happy just to look at it
nakedzen
Thanks! It's wonderful what you can hide with creative lighting and photo angles.

Gogzs
I'm really not a tele guy, but this is really pretty. Nice job!
nakedzen
Thanks, glad you liked it! Here's a "full" song of the soundclip. nakedzen
Surprise! I wasn't happy with how the guitar turned out, so I'm refinishing it.

nakedzen
Color ended up a bit too dark on the edges, prolly will take it back a notch with steel wool before applying the britetone. Not perfect but getting somewhere...

Bizman62
'Smokey' kind of way, that nailed it! Looks like something that you'll play in the corner of a small pub and when you lay it down you can't find it because it looks similar to the interior. Add a couple glass marks and some wear and tear - no cigarette burns though since smoking isn't allowed in pubs any longer! Usually I'm against relicing but that colouring almost shouts for some! Not much, just to make it look like it has been played a lot. No bruises, only stains of beer and sweat and lots of forearm rubbing...
nakedzen
Lol, maybe I'll relic it a bit. There are a couple places that the stain doesn't take well, maybe 'll just sand those back a bit!
nakedzen
Routed the neck today. Sandwich of spanish cedar I've had over a decade with maple core.

That sounds like something Ollivander's Wand Shop might have used, with the explanation how one gives clarity and the other sensibility to the spells...
nakedzen
UPS apparently first was about to deliver the fretboard to me 5 days ago, and now it's in Helsinki for some reason. blech. Anyway, here's progress. Cheeky test. Not too fond of the black pickup ring, but it already has holes for one.
nakedzen
Neck moving onwards, frets install next. Seven coats of Britetone done, couple more to go. New control cavity cover with eh, eye catching contrast.
nakedzen
Starting to look like a neck. Neck shaping day tomorrow! Final coat on. Now the cure time of 12 days, and I can give the assilex 800-1200 grits a try for level sanding.
nakedzen
Pretty woods on the neck, I like! Can't wait for oil. I think I'l go with the white pickup ring, looks more classy.

nakedzen
Oh yeah I got so excited about getting this done that I forgot to post pics of the level sanding process. It was very easy to do with these products, even for a novice like me. Kovax Super Assilex 800, 1200 grits, then Zona Micron 1800, 8000, 10600, 22000 grits, small piece wrapped on a rubber eraser. Lastly Meguiars Ultimate compound with a car polishing pad, did only small areas at a time, lightly buffed once, then cleaned with a microfiber cloth, repeat once. Then final shine with Meguiars ScratchX.
nakedzen
Thanks for the vote of confidence! This build was a right pain from the beginning to the end, but I guess I managed to do something right? It was a learning experience for sure.
