SergioDM
Hi everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. I am passionate about building valve amplifiers, guitar effects and a few years ago I started building guitars starting from already worked woods. The next project is a les paul with a beautiful flamed maple top. I would like to color it with water colors and then decide on the finish or oil or clear acrylic. I would like to make a colarazioine like in the photos I have attached. What colors should I use? I have spotted yellow or an amber but can't figure out which darker color I should use. Bizman62
I'd say yellow as a base and amber for the burst. Apply more amber on the edges to make it darker. If you use water based stains you can even use plain water to make the center lighter. Or, if you use alcohol based dye you can rub the dye off with alcohol.
