jowilmei Posted June 23, 2022 Report Posted June 23, 2022 I am looking to have a strat style guitar finished. Up to this point I have only used "easy" finishes like Truoil and such. I have no interest in buying the equipment required and would rather just pay someone local to do it if possible. Quote
Bizman62 Posted June 24, 2022 Report Posted June 24, 2022 Although there most likely is a hobbyist over there with both the skills and equipment to finish your guitar, getting in touch can be challenging. But there's most likely dozens of professional spray gun finishers in such a big city! By that I mean car painting shops. They sure know how to spray a flawless paint or clearcoat, especially those who tune up show cars. And the paints and lacquers work on wood as well. Agreed, they may not be familiar with all the tricks like spraying alcohol based dye over wet clearcoat for a burst but if I managed to do that on my second try ever with a (cheap) spray gun a pro sure should soon figure out how to do it. Not to mention they can adjust their guns for optimal results. Cabinet or furniture makers also should have the skills and equipment needed so if there's those in your neighbourhood, give them a visit. 1 Quote
